Floor Stripping and Waxing for

Schools in Fairfield County, CT

Protect Your School Floors Before the New School Year

Summer break is the ideal time for schools to restore and protect their floors. Months of foot traffic, desks, chairs, cafeteria activity, and winter salt can wear down floor finishes, leaving surfaces dull, scratched, and difficult to clean.

At FAB Maintenance Services, we provide professional floor stripping and waxing services for schools throughout Fairfield County, Connecticut. Our process removes old layers of finish, eliminates embedded dirt, and applies durable protective coatings designed to withstand heavy student and staff traffic.

Why Schools Need Floor Stripping and Waxing

Many school floors, especially VCT (Vinyl Composition Tile), require periodic stripping and refinishing to maintain their appearance and protect the underlying surface.

Benefits include:

• • • Improved appearance and a brighter learning environment
    • Protection against scratches, stains, and moisture damage
    • Easier daily cleaning and maintenance
    • Reduced long-term floor replacement costs
    • Improved slip resistance when properly maintained
    • Extended floor life

When floor finish becomes worn, dirt becomes trapped in the surface, making floors look permanently dirty even after routine cleaning.

Signs Your School Floors Need Refinishing

VCT floors that are not burnished regularly should typically be stripped and waxed every 9 to 12 months, depending on foot traffic and maintenance practices. However, there are several signs that can indicate your floors may be due for refinishing sooner.

If your floors show three or more of the following signs, it may be time to contact your trusted floor maintenance provider for an evaluation:

• • • Dull or uneven appearance
    • Yellowing or discolored finish
    • Visible scratches and scuff marks
    • Stains that do not come out with routine cleaning
    • Areas where the floor finish has completely worn away
    • Increased maintenance time and costs

Regular floor refinishing helps protect your investment, improve appearance, and extend the life of your school’s floorin

Our Professional Floor Stripping and Waxing Process

At FAB Maintenance Services, our floor stripping and waxing process is designed to deliver exceptional results every time. We don’t cut corners—we clean them. Our technicians carefully remove old floor finish, built-up soil, and embedded dirt, paying close attention to edges, corners, and hard-to-reach areas that are often overlooked.

While some companies perform a quick strip and move on, we take the time necessary to properly restore your floors. Depending on the condition of the flooring, multiple stripping passes may be required to remove years of accumulated finish and residue. Our goal is to leave the floor as clean as possible before applying fresh protective coatings.

The result is a cleaner, brighter, and more professional-looking floor with a durable finish designed to withstand the heavy traffic common in schools. When we’re finished, your floors will shine so beautifully that you’ll be able to see your own reflection.
